Ineke and Bas turned six on January 17th. We started off with breakfast in bed for the birthday kids (waffles!), as requested by both Bas and Ineke. Willem got to join in too since he didn’t have this treat on his birthday. Bas then celebrated his birthday that day in his classroom with his classmates (and Ineke came in too!) and some cupcakes. That evening, also at the kids’ request, we went just the five of us for sushi and then they opened up the their gifts from the family. The kids were spoiled with some great books, crafts and activities like Perplexus and a First Science kit. Rockstar Barbie and the Monster truck track were also big hits!
This past week, Ineke also celebrated in her class after spending the day baking French brioche with her class.
Their friend birthday party was held Saturday at Fun 4 Kidz in Richmond. They were joined by several friends where we celebrated by playing in the kid zone followed by pizza and Super Mario cupcakes. In the evening Lucas, Ella and Elise slept over because their parents were going to a wedding. Everyone had a blast tearing around and the whole event was relatively painless for a kids birthday!
We were lucky also to see Oma and Opa this weekend as they were in town to help watch Valentina while Tia Elise was away. Since their birthday, they’ve been dying to try out the new science kit and Ineke suggested that because Opa is a scientist, that maybe he could help out with some experiments!
